Are you feeling like there is no hope, nothing good is happening in your life, and/or feeling sad most of the time?
Do you feel that life is just happening to you and against you?
Do you feel like you are living under a dark cloud all the time?
Do you feel you have no control of your surroundings?
If you are having these feelings and I could go on probably forever with more of the questions, you are not alone! We all go through spells of these feelings; however, the choices we make to get out of that feeling depends on you!
The biggest choice is what tools are you going to choose to tackle the issues....medicate or meditate?
What are ways that we medicate ourselves?
We can medicate ourselves and our problems many different ways
Prescribed Medication
Alcohol
Illegal Drugs
Marijuana
Shopping
Thrill Seeking
Eating
Isolating Ourselves
Medication has a time and a purpose but it seems to only mask or cover up the issue without resolving it on its own. You can take medications to declutter your mind and calm it so that you are able to make some different choices; Yet you need to take the next step of helping yourself heal by making positive changes in your life! Taking the time to meditate and reflect on the issues that are affecting the depression. Looking at each situation with a clear mind to create solutions to get your mindset changed to a positive, happy, and productive way.
During the journey it seems like it is overwhelming and not working....Nevertheless, keep trying to practice meditating...just like everything practice will pay off! Even if you can calm your mind for one minute...it is still one minute of success! You need to look at that as an accomplishment! We are not suggesting you sit and meditate for 8 hours at a time like a monk or anything....any little bit will make a noticeable improvement. Perhaps by the end of the week you will be able to meditate for two minutes....guess what you just doubled your meditation time!!!! If that is not a reason to celebrate I am not sure what is? That also means that you were not in a depressed state for the entire week since you spent some of the time in meditation. That is an amazing step to healing.
There are many meditation techniques you can follow depending on what feels right for you. If one way doesn't seem to work for you make sure you try another way!
You may like to meditate different ways:
Group setting like during a virtual group meditation session (in your home)
Joining a class in person (Yoga, Meditation Classes, Spiritual Healer, etc.)
Learning from reading books
Sitting in nature at the park amongst the trees, water, sky, and fire
Pampering yourself with services (manicures, salt caves, Spiritual Healers, etc.)
Day Dream to allow your mind to wander
Focus on your breathing in a controlled manner
Any way that you choose is a step closer to help getting to the root of the issues that are causing your depression. You will be taking the time to calm your mind and work through the issue and not just mask it hoping that it will go away. When you are able to determine the root of the issues you then empower yourself to make the positive changes that are required to conquer them! You now have started the process of healing naturally.
When you work on empowering yourself and show yourself some self love/acceptance you are on the right path to a lighter and brighter future! You do not have to do the journey alone! It is best if you have a support system in place to walk or guide you through the process. Before long, you will be going to meditation as your go to healing instead of self medicating and not getting to the root of the problems to repair them.
We offer some free meditations, paid sessions, and other healing sessions to help you become the soul that you are meant to be!
Ultimately, you make the choice as to how you want to live! Fill your heart with love, peace, and compassion to powerfully bring yourself out of the depression that is engulfing you!
